Miya

Adoption status: Adopted!

Hello, my new name is Miya. I am a 5-year old Shiba Inu that has only ever lived with one family. I’ve been a very good girl and I’ve always done well with cats, dogs and children. But the only family I have ever known is having another child and no longer have time for me, so they asked DC SIR to take me in and find a family that will love me forever.

My family had nothing but wonderful things to say to DC SIR about me. The only issue I have is spay incontinence which happens to dogs when they are spayed very young. But this is easily and affordably managed with just half a pill a day. I hope this doesn’t keep a forever family from adopting me. I have so much love to offer and I really want to be in my forever home soon because I am so sensitive and it hurts to be moved around.

Let me tell you a bit about my short time with DC SIR. I was very nervous when I went away from my family and I cried and panted. But the nice lady who drove me to my foster home knew I was upset and gave me delicious food like boiled chicken and yummy treats from the DC SIR Amazon Wish List. I really like her yummy treats and this kept my mind off losing my family.

Once I got to my foster home I got to meet my temporary mom and dad. I get to live with a grumpy older Shiba (she growls at me but I know to back off until we can be friends) and a very goofy Malamute. She’s fun and likes to lick my face! I was still very nervous and cried a lot but my foster family slept in my room with me so I settled down quickly. My foster family is doing all they can to mend my broken heart and they promise to update you with my progress. Please share my story and help me find my forever home!

Please email adoption@dcsir.org if you would like to adopt Miya!
