Akari

Adoption status: Adopted!

Hi DCSIR Fans… My name is now Akari. I’m a red female Shiba Inu who is about 3 years old, and a bit scared. I love just about everyone and will warm up if you are kind to me. I’ve been in a shelter for two weeks and I’ve been so frightened. My tail has been down and I’ve kept my head low. I just got out of surgery after getting spayed and I really thought I would never be in a home again. Then some nice people at DCSIR offered to foster me.

A couple of very nice volunteers took their day to drive me a long way to DCSIR. I knew when I got to the intake home I was going to be fine! I met so many nice Shibas! They were all so kind to me, and I liked being near them. I also met a very sweet kitty cat who helped me calm down too. Everyone says I’m so sweet. I’m tiny too. I weigh about 17 lbs. I’m going to try and trust people again. I know I can put my tail up again soon and hold my head up high like a proud Shiba. I would like a loving home with caring and patient family members. Will you share my story so I can find them? I’m so happy to have my freedom right before the 4th of July! DCSIR promised to tell you all about me as I settle in my new foster home.

Please email adoption@dcsir.org and tell them you’d like to give Akari a forever home!
