Hi! My name is now Akihiko and it means bright prince in Japanese. I am a four year old male Black and Tan Shiba Inu from S. Korea. I had an awesome dad who took me around the world with him! He always went out of his way to make sure I had the best of everything and we always did everything together. I could even be off-leash in the mountains of Japan with my family because I loved them so much and would follow them anywhere. My parent’s work transferred them to a country that has made it nearly impossible for me to go with them. So at no fault of my own, I found myself in rescue. My parents were heart-broken and cried when they said goodbye to me. I cried in my crate too but the DC SIR volunteer had a bag of freshly boiled chicken so I kept busy eating that on the way to Shiba HQ. DC SIR promised to keep me busy doing fun things like hikes and lay with other Shibas.
So let me tell you a little about myself. I am handsome! I am not neutered but DC SIR already has my appointment set. I did really well when I met DC SIR assessment dog, Katniss. Since then I have met all the rescues at Shiba HQ and I am getting along with everyone. I especially love the ladies! I even played a bit of chase with Katniss. But it’s only been a day so I’m still really nervous.

I’m very lovable and loyal. I walk very well on a leash, but DC SIR will be training me to walk on a harness. DC SIR will get a better assessment of the type of forever home that will be best for me after I settle into my foster home. From what they know so far, they think an active home will be best for a young jet-setter like myself! Will you please share my story so that I may find a forever home?
