Kasshoku

Adoption status: Adopted!
Kasshoku is a 9-month-old male sesame Shiba Inu.

Hello everyone, my new Japanese name is Kasshoku. I am a 9-month-old male, sesame, Shiba Inu and I weigh about 18lbs. I was purchased at a pet store so that means my parents are puppy mill dogs. I lived in a home with parents, children, and another dog. My family told DC SIR that I am a very sweet boy. However, I am not potty trained and this became overwhelming, so they reached out to DC SIR. DC SIR reached out right away but found out they decided to drop me off at the shelter the next day! That means I would live in a cage and go to the first person in line to adopt me! DC SIR explained that their program would mean I would live in a home with a family, receive the best medical and science-based humane training. My family said they would only surrender to DC SIR if they could pick me up before the shelter appointment the next day. Thank goodness for DC SIR volunteers! They found a volunteer to drop everything and pick me up with just an hour notice. I feel very lucky that I got to go into a home instead of a kennel. When I arrived at Shiba HQ, I got to explore the yard on my own. I happily greeted all the volunteers. Soon I got to meet all the fosters one by one. Oh boy!!! This place is SUPER fun! The other dogs play-bowed at me and we chased each other back and forth. Some of these dogs are super fast! I’m gonna try to be fast too! The volunteers keep calling me by my new name and giving me treats and telling me I’m a good boy. I’ve been having so much fun that I haven’t had a chance to be too sad. My foster said that might happen at night when it’s time to go to sleep. But I’ll be surrounded by all my new friends so maybe it won’t be so bad. In addition to working with my housebreaking, DC SIR is going to work on socialization too! I get to go on a lot of adventures and they are going to create positive experiences with all these new places, sights, sounds, people, and animals I am going to meet! Please follow my story and progress with the DC SIR training program. They’ll let you know all about me! I need a minimum 2 week behavior and health assessment before I will be available for adoption!
