Kazuki

Adoption status: Adopted!

Hi! My name is now Kazuki and I’m a 3 yr old red male Shiba Inu. DC SIR doesn’t have a lot of information about my former life. I was with a family but I wasn’t in great shape and went to live with someone who put some weight on me. I lived with 12 dogs and from what they told DC SIR, I did well. Since I don’t have much to tell you about my past let me tell you what DC SIR knows about me. I bark at strangers to let them know they are scary. I told the DC SIR Volunteers just that when they came to pick me up. I wouldn’t take their treats but I settled down for the car ride. When I arrived at Shiba HQ, I yelled some more! But they know how to make scared dogs like me comfortable with the right body language and their secret weapon…. Boiled Chicken! I wasn’t taking any treats from them until they pulled out the boiled chicken and then I didn’t mind them so much! Matter of fact I run up to them now because they always bring me a fun toy or yummy treat!

I got to meet some other really friendly dogs and enjoyed playing with the puppy! See my playbow in my profile picture? That’s me asking the friendly puppy to play! I’ll be going to a foster home with another female Shiba Inu. So they’ll be sending in photos and details about how I am adjusting. DC SIR says I will need a family to work on positive interactions with people since I probably wasn’t socialized as a puppy. If you didn’t know, that is real important for the Shiba Inu breed!

DC SIR is a non-profit, volunteer-run network of foster homes in the Washington, DC area.

DC SIR does not have a shelter facility. To meet our adoptable dogs, interested adopters can attend one of our monthly adoption events.
