Kishi

Adoption status: Adopted!

My name is Kishi, and I am a Mill Dog. I have never known the gentle caress of a loving human companion. I have never felt the softness of a clean bed. I have never heard a soothing word or praise. I have never had a toy. I have never laid back my ears, squinted my eyes, or shook my butt and howled a Shiba welcome in anticipation of a family member’s arrival. I have never felt the comfort of a human when I was terrified or lonely. The only comfort I have ever had was the short love I could give my puppies. I hope the people that bought them gave my puppies a better life than I have had in this concrete and metal jail. I know their parents think they saved my puppies, but they only prolonged my life of misery while lining the pockets of greed. In my soul, I feel I am meant to run free with grass under my paws, the sun on my face and the wind in my fur.

When DC SIR picked me up, I was trying to make myself very small so they wouldn’t pick me to hurt. But when they put me into another crate, they took their time and placed me in so gently. I’m a very shy girl and I don’t trust humans. They hurt me for so many years. I do have more confidence when I am around my fursisters! I’ll take the tasty boiled chicken if my foster mom sits and looks away from me. I love other dogs and follow them around. When I am called into the house I just follow the other dogs. I don’t like to be handled but I sat through my bathing and nail clipping without much fuss. I love looking at myself in the mirror and sometimes I just gaze at my reflection for minutes. DC SIR says that I will need a family who is willing to take fearful dog classes to see progress with my trust in people. I do have my tail up when I am with other dogs, it’s too soon to tell but that may be a requirement for my adoption. I know that I can have a good life. I played with a stuffed toy my very first night in rescue. It was something I always wanted for my puppies Now I may get the chance to be loved like I hope my puppies were loved.
