Hello everyone, my new name is now Momiji and it means “Autumn colors” in Japanese! It’s only fitting since today is the first day of fall and my first day with DC SIR. I am a tiny 1-year-old female red Shiba Inu puppy. I was purchased from a pet store in New York. That means I was born to parents in a puppy mills. I have an adorable underbite and big ears. My family reached out to DC SIR to take me in when they planned an international move, but changed their mind and I went to live with family friends. But just a couple weeks later DC SIR got a call that I needed a home again. So my original family got me on a plane and flew me to DC so I could be part of the DC SIR family! When the volunteer picked me up she had boiled chicken. That stuff is wonderful so I stuck close by her.
I am not yet spayed and need full vetting. DC SIR was told that I prefer female dogs to male dogs. When I arrived at Shiba HQ I was pretty grumpy to everyone equally except for DC SIR’s neutral dog, Katniss. Once I realized everyone was nice I got along with the male and female Shibas. But DC SIR will have to let you know more about my personality after my minimum 2-week assessment. I will be going to live in a foster home with 3 other dogs. While I am at Shiba HQ they will test me with their resident cats and let you know how I do with them. So far, I’ve really liked to follow the DC SIR volunteer around and make her pick me up! I like to sit on her lap. I also let her trim my nails which were very long. Did I tell you I love boiled chicken? I really think it is delicious! So far I will sit for treats, do great with body handling and being picked up, and I am integrated with the dogs at Shiba HQ! Please follow my story to learn more about me!
