Senshi

Adoption status: Adopted!

Hi! My name is now Senshi, and I was one of the two boys of the Missouri 8. My name means ‘warrior’ in Japanese, and that’s because I’ve survived one of the worst places you can imagine. I was abused. I was thrown into one cage after another just to make puppies. I was starved. I was hurt, and no one cared. Through it all, I never lost my Shiba spirit or my dignity. I never lost hope. I never let them defeat me. One day, my hope paid off.

I remember our ride to freedom like it was yesterday. I got to sleep on a nice warm blanket instead of in a wire cage. I was petted lovingly instead of being manhandled. I got to eat yummy food for the first time in my life. I even got to play with some cool toys! And then, it got even better. I was brought to an awesome foster home!

It’s still a little strange to be in a home, but I’m slowly getting used to it. Back in the puppy mill, we would all howl at night. Sometimes I’ll still howl when I get sad or nervous. I’m very inquisitive and love to explore, there are so many wonderful new things to see and smell! I think I’m quite a bit less shy than most of my puppy mill brothers and sisters. One of my paws is injured from being in a cage all the time, but my foster mom is soaking it every night and taking care of me. I really like being the center of attention, and DC SIR thinks I’ll do best in a home where I can be the only dog. I have more than enough love to give!

Please email adoption@dcsir.org and tell them you’d like to adopt Senshi!

DC SIR is a non-profit, volunteer-run network of foster homes in the Washington, DC area.

DC SIR does not have a shelter facility. To meet our adoptable dogs, interested adopters can attend one of our monthly adoption events.
