Tsuyoi

Adoption status: Adopted!

My name is Tsuyoi (Strength) and I am a Mill Dog. I have never known the gentle caress of a loving human companion. I have never felt the softness of a blanket. I have never had a name. I have never heard a soothing word or praise. I have never had a toy. I have never had a soft bed to sleep on. I have never laid back my ears, squinted my eyes, shook my butt and howled a Shiba welcome in anticipation of a family member’s arrival. I have never felt the comfort of a human when I was terrified or lonely. The only comfort I have ever had was knowing I would be freed from my nightmare and killed when I no longer performed or if I were to get too sick to produce puppies. There is no hope for a Mill Dog. There is no one to hear our screams of endless agony. In my soul I feel I am meant to run free with grass under my paws, the sun on my face and the wind in my fur. The blood of my ancestors calls me to run wild with abandon. When I close my eyes tightly, I can hear the howls of freedom. We are not meant to be caged. All I know is concrete walls, steel bars and cold nights. Many before me, and many after me, will never know a day of freedom.

On May 3, 2013, DCSIR ended my life as a Mill Dog. But left behind, across our country, are thousands more like me. Please do not buy our puppies. With each purchase, you condemn me and others like me to endless years of pain, loneliness and torture. STOP. I was a Mill Dog. Now I am a Rescue. Now I am Tsuyoi. Please share my story. Do not shop at stores that sell puppies. Do not buy puppies online. Adopt. Foster. Donate. Share. Transport. Crosspost. Educate. Like us on www.Facebook.com/DCShibaInuRescue to follow Tsuyoi’s plight.

DC SIR is a non-profit, volunteer-run network of foster homes in the Washington, DC area.

DC SIR does not have a shelter facility. To meet our adoptable dogs, interested adopters can attend one of our monthly adoption events.
