Kasumii

Adoption status: Adopted!

Hi my new name is now Kasumii and it means, mist in Japanese. Thank you DC SIR fans for saving me. I am a 6 yr old red female Shiba Inu & my family surrendered me to a shelter for “running away too much.” I’m a small girl at only 15 lbs. The shelter noticed I had multiple mammary tumors and needed dental work too. Maybe my family didn’t want to take care of me? When I got to the shelter they noticed I didn’t want to be around other dogs and because they don’t have much space that was bad news for me. Luckily, a nice volunteer at the shelter found DC SIR and asked them to help me. They reached out to their fans and raised money for my immediate care. I’ve already had my tumors removed and my dental work done and now I’m in a loving foster home with a lot of Shiba Inu experience, so they’ll be able to tell you all about the real me!

I had a real long drive to my foster home after my surgery – it was about 5 hours. But when I woke up I realized what nice people everyone was and I got real close to snuggle up and let them know how much I appreciate being saved and back in a home. My first night was confusing. I cried anytime my foster family left my side. So they stayed up all night with me. Making sure I got the comfort I needed and they even made me a yummy chicken broth because my mouth hurts too much to eat even soft food. I’m going to take a few days to recover from all my surgery. I hear that DC SIR will make sure I get the proper medical, nutrition and wellness care to get me in tip top shape before I go to a real forever home. I may not be able to go to a home with other dogs but I am very sweet and I love people. So far they think I’m doing great with cats and I live with a nice kitty in my foster home. I want to thank everyone who got me out of the shelter and into a home. I want to live and I want to be loved and told how pretty and special I am.

DC SIR is a non-profit, volunteer-run network of foster homes in the Washington, DC area.

DC SIR does not have a shelter facility. To meet our adoptable dogs, interested adopters can attend one of our monthly adoption events.
