Maemi

Let me tell you my story. I’m an old senior Shiba Inu and my life has not been going well. I’ve been living in an abandoned house all by myself and I have been chained to the wall. I’ve lived in filth and squalor but survived on what food and water was brought to me. Sometimes, I got cold because the windows were broken, often my old bones hurt because I had no soft bed to rest and I was always lonely because I had no one around to comfort me. I want so much to be petted and told that I am a pretty puppy like I once was told a long time ago. When Animal Control cam to take me away, I was so happy to see them and I shook my tail like a happy puppy hoping they would tell me how good I am and how I would be loved again.

At the shelter there are real nice people who think I’m super sweet but know I would never make it out alive without the commitment of a rescue. You see, I am heartworm positive. It’s expensive and dangerous to fix me and I also have cataracts and my hips aren’t too good and my ears don’t hear so well but my tail still shakes with joy when I see people willing to comfort me; and isn’t that enough to want to save my life?

DC Shiba Inu Rescue heard about my plight and they are desperately trying to find a foster home, transport and raise funds to give me a chance to feel the love I once knew when I was a puppy. They want to give me nutritious food and a warm bed and the comfort of human touch. Will you please help DC SIR bring me into their rescue so that I can have a name, a home and a chance to feel loved again.

DC SIR is a non-profit, volunteer-run network of foster homes in the Washington, DC area.

DC SIR does not have a shelter facility. To meet our adoptable dogs, interested adopters can attend one of our monthly adoption events.
