Masa

Adoption status: Adopted!

Hi! My name is now Masa! I’m a one year old male Shiba Inu. I’ve had to move around a bit in my young life but at no fault of my own. You see, I was loved, adored and the center of attention when my family bought me! But a few months ago they had a baby and asked a friend to watch me while they settled in with their bundle of joy. But as the weeks passed and my temporary guardian asked when I could go back home, my “family” said they didn’t want me back. I guess I was a temporary distraction for them to play house with until they got a real baby. This broke my heart. My temporary guardian has been very nice to me. I even get to play with a child and I play very nicely. But he was only expecting to watch me for a couple weeks and doesn’t have the time to properly care for me. I was being walked on a choke chain and DC SIR NEVER allows this so I am so happy to be walked without pain. DC SIR said I am so smart and had me doing heel in just under 20 minutes and it was so fun learning with them!

There is so much to tell everyone and I promise to have DC SIR tell you all about me as I settle in at my foster home. I’m going to be assessed for a couple of weeks but this is what DC SIR has noticed: I am great with all dogs I’ve met, I am great with children who know how to treat dogs and I have not been tested with cats. I am a bit shy and fearful of new people and places but I warm up quickly when I know you will be kind to me! It would be really great to be in a home where I can be trained using force free methods since I am so smart and responsive! So for now, I just wanted to say hi, and ask that you watch my album on Facebook for updates on how awesome I am!

DC SIR is a non-profit, volunteer-run network of foster homes in the Washington, DC area.

DC SIR does not have a shelter facility. To meet our adoptable dogs, interested adopters can attend one of our monthly adoption events.
