Matcha

Adoption status: Adopted!

Hi there! My name is Matcha, I’m 19 lbs of fluffy adorableness & I love to play fetch. I was purchased from a pet store 3 years ago. The person who bought me didn’t realize I would need training & decided to drop me off at a shelter. Luckily, his sister stepped in & took me to her house. She worked on a bit of training with me & then like her brother, decided that a Shiba like me just wasn’t right for her. She wanted me to go to someone who knew about Shibas & how special we are. That’s when she found DC SIR. I like it here.

Now I’m living in a foster home with one cat & my foster parents. I don’t like it when people try to run up & greet me but once I get to say hi, I’m an adorable cheese-ball. In fact, I’m so adorable that people seem to want to give me gifts all of the time! Sometimes I get pets, balls or toys but my favorite gift is food. I will follow you around everywhere hoping you’ll share that sandwich. I like to cuddle on my own terms & will let you know when it’s time to pet me; otherwise I like to do my own thing. My foster home has a great Shiba –TV where I can watch for birds & squirrels. I like it here but what I really want is a family to call my own, maybe with a cat or another dog; with people who understand Shibas & will know I’m the right dog for them.

Matcha is neutered, micro-chipped and UTD on vaccinations. He can go to a home with cats, some dogs, no children.

DC SIR is a non-profit, volunteer-run network of foster homes in the Washington, DC area.

DC SIR does not have a shelter facility. To meet our adoptable dogs, interested adopters can attend one of our monthly adoption events.
