Michio

Adoption status: Adopted!

Hi everyone! My new name is Michio and it means, man with strength of three thousand in Japanese. Thank you DC SIR fans for saving & naming me. I am an 8 yr old black and tan male Shiba Inu & I have only known one family. I have lived with one owner since I was 6 months old. I’ve only been in a car once since I was 6 months old when I flew to the DC area from California. DC SIR got a call that my two 13 yr old Shiba siblings & me needed a new home in less than 48 hrs. My dad was evicted and we were living in an empty apartment. I am very shy and timid so you will have to be very gentle and kind to approach me. Once I trust you I’ll come out for pets and treats. Since being with DC SIR I got a bath and didn’t mind it at all. It’s nice to be flea free! I got brushed for a real long time too. I think I like being brushed! My nails were real long and painful to walk on and that’s gotten better too.

Now that I am in the DC SIR house I get to go out and play in a fenced yard with other dogs. I LOVE sniffing and running around. Watching me you’d think I was half my age! I can jump real high too. I’ve jumped all the gates in the house but just so I can be near my foster people or hide somewhere when other dogs make a lot of noise. DC SIR thinks I’m in real good shape and after my two week assessment and full panel blood work they think I will be ready for a forever home. I’m gonna tell them all my likes, fears and as much as I can about me in these next couple weeks.

DC SIR is a non-profit, volunteer-run network of foster homes in the Washington, DC area.

DC SIR does not have a shelter facility. To meet our adoptable dogs, interested adopters can attend one of our monthly adoption events.
