Mochi

Adoption status:Adopted!

Hi everyone! My name is now Mochi. I’m a small, 6 year old sesame male Shiba Inu. I have only ever lived with one family with children, and I love them very much. However, I don’t always tolerate children & I have some handling reactivity, so DC SIR promised to work on these issues with me and place me in a pawfect forever home! My pawrents love me very much but they have to travel a lot with the military and will have new work schedules that don’t leave time for me. My mom cried when she dropped me off and I was real nervous going with strangers to DC SIR intake home.

But the nice DC SIR volunteer gave me yummy chicken and I met a real nice Shiba just like me. DC SIR was told that I used to be good with dogs but stopped liking them a few years ago so I need to be the only dog, no children, and my foster family will let you know how I get along with their cat! I did fine with DC SIR rescue Katniss and we walked together and explored a yard together, so I am not horrible with other dogs and can go on group hikes and find nice playmates but I can’t live with other dogs or go to dog parks. DC SIR would like to do a thyroid panel on me so please consider donating to them with a note for “Mochi’s fund.” My family said I love meeting new people and going to new places. DC SIR is just getting to know me and they will give you all the details of how wonderful I am in my album on Facebook! I do need someone who is familiar with positive training!

DC SIR is a non-profit, volunteer-run network of foster homes in the Washington, DC area.

DC SIR does not have a shelter facility. To meet our adoptable dogs, interested adopters can attend one of our monthly adoption events.
