Adoption status: Adopted!

Hi, my name is Oni and I’m a 3 year old Black and Tan female Shiba Inu. I’ve lived my entire life with one family and my brother, Ryu, a 2 yr old Shiba. Our family included two cats and a child. My family recently relocated and unfortunately could only find an apartment that would accept up to two pets. When the landlord found out there were four, he was not very happy and called animal control to take us away. My family decided to keep the older cats, but they didn’t want me & my brother to go to the dog pound. They quickly found us a place to live. But they did not know how to handle us. I stole some table food and guarded the awesome stuff. Then they got really upset when I turned a deaf ear. I was just using my typical Shiba smarts.

Soon I heard talks of the dog pound again. Luckily, DC SIR was called to help! I’m really very loveable. If you have primitive breed experience and are patient, I will give you lots of affection. I only weigh 19 lbs., but don’t let that fool you. I’m queen and will let you know it. You see, I need a little special pampering. I have a few allergies but DC SIR says they will put me on a raw diet program – how yummy! I also can be a little fussy around someone pulling at my paws or ears. But if you are patient, and can respect my needs, I will butter up to you in no time. I am a little reactive on leash with some dogs who get to close, but other than that I am really well behaved and would do best in a home with my brother Ryu. I have been to dog parks, and would love to go on special outings with my new forever family.

DC SIR is a non-profit, volunteer-run network of foster homes in the Washington, DC area.

DC SIR does not have a shelter facility. To meet our adoptable dogs, interested adopters can attend one of our monthly adoption events.
