Hello everyone, my new name is now Ane and it means “Older Sister’ in Japanese. I am a tiny 9-year-old female Shiba Inu and I was dumped in a shelter with my sister, now Imouto. We lived our whole lives with one family. But after they had kids and their lifestyle changed, they no longer had time for us. So instead of looking for a rescue, they took us to a shelter where we lived in cages. The nice people at the shelter saw how scared we were and did everything they could to make us comfortable in our new surroundings, but we didn’t know shelter life and it was scary. Thankfully, the staff at the shelter helped us get to DC SIR where we could live in homes like we did when we had a family. They drove over 6 hrs round trip to help get us closer to our foster home with DC SIR.

Let me tell you a bit about myself, I rode very well in the car with the DC SIR volunteer but we were a bit scared and kept looking out the window for our old home. When we arrived at Shiba HQ, we were happy to run free in the yard and we got to meet a whole bunch of friendly dogs. DC SIR was told we are great with dogs and cats. Our fun didn’t last long because we had get a shower next! The volunteer said we smelled bad and our nails were painfully long. I was very good during grooming and barely cried. I let the volunteer trim all my nails so that I could walk pain-free. My fur was very dirty and the water was brown for some time. After the shower, we got yummy boiled chicken and the volunteer kept praising us and telling us what good girls we were. This made us happy and we shook our butts and took the yummy treats. Because it was storming outside, the volunteer took us to a private room to dry up. Boy were we happy! We pranced and danced around and played like puppies! We got more treats there too! We’ll get to play with everyone again soon, then tomorrow our foster mom is driving over to Shiba HQ to take us to her home. We’ll be living with another DC SIR alumni!

DC SIR thinks that my sister and I are a bonded pair and if so they will keep us together! Please help us find a home and share our story!
