Hello everyone, you may remember me from December of 2017 when I first came into DC SIR after my owner surrendered me to a shelter in NC. I had allergies which DC SIR cleared up on their program. I thrived in foster care in a multi-dog home and tested well with resident cats. I was returned to DC SIR because I nipped at the cats in my new home and my owners didn’t feel that hiring a trainer would help. DC SIR was told I also became reactive to other dogs too. Unfortunately, DC SIR was disappointed to see that my contract to maintain their holistic approach to allergies was violated and I was put on multiple drugs and kibble. Luckily, DC SIR moved quickly when they realized this and worked to get me a foster home ASAP. My owners drove me back to VA. I cried when they left and tried to get out of the volunteer’s car. I didn’t understand why I lost the people I grew to love. When

I arrived at Shiba HQ I met neutral dog Katniss again. I did well with her but I was definitely more reactive towards the other dogs than the first time I came to Shiba HQ. Even though I am going to a foster home with no other pets, the DC SIR volunteer spent 6 hours re-integrating me into a multi-dog home. The volunteers realize that years of science-based classes, seminars, and on-going education contribute to the ability to successfully modify behavior. After a long day of slow and positive reintroduction, I was able to settle into the group. I even ate with everyone and took a nap next to another allergy dog, Zuki. Despite reintegrating, I still missed the family I grew to love over the past 6-months. I cried at the gate for the volunteer to take me home. I went to all the doors to find my family to see if I could get to them.

I am now 9-years-old and desperately hope for a family who will put in the effort to make me a forever dog. Once DC SIR feels they have a good assessment of my current health and temperament, I will be available for adoption! In the meantime, they will be focusing on rebuilding my microbiome and helping me lose weight I’ve gained. Please share my album to help me find a loving forever home!
