Adoption Status: Adopted!

Hi, my new name is Shigurei but my foster parents say you can call me Rei for short. I am a 10 month old Black and Tan female Shiba puppy! I hear DC SIR has several dogs coming into rescue but lucky me they had room for me on short notice. My story is often seen in rescue, my first family was unable to keep me, having to leave me alone most of the day in my crate. Turns out they didn’t have time for a puppy. They found me a really nice home where I would have a Shiba brother. It sounded awesome at the time but my new brother and I were not getting along as hoped. I was being a normal little sister, causing trouble for him, stealing all his toys; you know all the normal stuff. He wasn’t ready for a little sister though so my new home thought it would be best to find me a better fit. They reached out to DC SIR.

Everyone keeps saying how sweet I am, how smart and how pretty. All of it true. Now I need to find a home to match and I will have the full package.
My foster mom says if she had to pick a flaw (I have none so I don’t know what she’s talking about) it would be I was not house trained. My last home started training me but I still need more work which I am assured will be no problem for an intelligent girl like me. I already know things like sit, down and fist bump so anything else will be a breeze.
I was sad when I first was dropped off at my foster home but now that I am in rescue I think things will start looking up for me. My foster parents stayed up all night with me playing fetch, giving me treats so I think things will be ok. I can’t wait for my evaluation period to be over so I can be adopted to my forever home.
Shigurei is good with some dogs and is currently being evaluated with cats. She will be available for adoption after October 31st pending vet visit and temperament assessment.

DC SIR is a non-profit, volunteer-run network of foster homes in the Washington, DC area.

DC SIR does not have a shelter facility. To meet our adoptable dogs, interested adopters can attend one of our monthly adoption events.
