Adoption status: Adopted!

Hi, my name is Ryo. I’m a handsome, red puppy male Shiba Inu! I was picked up as a stray and put in a shelter. I was really scared and nervous. I growled and snapped at people who approached me in a scary way. Once I knew no one would hurt me I was all cuddles and kisses. DCSIR said they would take me in until I find my forever home. I did hear them say I have to go to the vet to get “fixed!” I don’t know what that means, because I am perfect in every way. When the DC SIR volunteer came to pick me up from the shelter, I was so happy. I kept pawing her to remind her to pet me to help calm me down.

I was real nervous and panted a lot. I didn’t even take any of their delicious treats because I was so scared. As soon as I got to my foster home I got a bath and didn’t make a peep while being cleaned up. I’m a beautiful boy but my fur is dry and should be soft and lush after a couple weeks on a balanced raw diet. My foster mom says I’ll need leash training because I’m “all over the place.” But she doesn’t realize how excited I am to smell EVERYTHING! I love meeting new dogs and have tons of energy to run and play with everyone! I am a typical Shiba, and respond best to force free training. I’m a healthy, happy and handsome guy who would love to be in an active family with another furry brother or sister who I can bond and play with!

DC SIR is a non-profit, volunteer-run network of foster homes in the Washington, DC area.

DC SIR does not have a shelter facility. To meet our adoptable dogs, interested adopters can attend one of our monthly adoption events.
