Adoption status: Adopted!

Hi, my name is Ryu and I’m a 2 year old Black and Tan male Shiba Inu. I’ve lived my entire life with one family and my sister, Oni, a 3 year old Shiba. Our family included two cats and children too! My family recently relocated and unfortunately could only find an apartment that would accept up to two pets. They quickly found us a place to live. Unfortunately, the family didn’t understand typical Shiba behavior and we were swiftly sent packing. Soon, we heard talk of the dog pound again. Luckily, DC SIR was called to help!
Can you help me find my forever home? I’m really loveable and very friendly. My foster mom says I don’t have a mean bone in my body! I’m also young and healthy, weighing 27 lbs.

I’m great with dogs, cats, and children. I can be a bit shy and like to follow my sister Oni or my foster mom around like her shadow. I’m very gentle and easy to handle. If you know how to properly communicate with me, I’ll be giving you kisses in no time! I am a counter surfer because I’m super tall and didn’t get the proper training but DCSIR will be showing me good manners. Other than that I am really well behaved and would do best where my sister and I can receive positive force free training. I have been to dog parks, and would love to go on walks and hikes with my new forever family.

DC SIR is a non-profit, volunteer-run network of foster homes in the Washington, DC area.

DC SIR does not have a shelter facility. To meet our adoptable dogs, interested adopters can attend one of our monthly adoption events.
