Taki

Adoption status: Adopted!

Hi, my name is Taki. I’m a handsome, 2 year old cream male Shiba Inu! I’m a small Shiba just under 20lbs. My family dumped me in a shelter in NC. They said I didn’t get along with big dogs. But they don’t know much. They told the shelter I wasn’t a Shiba because Shibas are red and look like foxes. They didn’t know about the four colors and our unique and fabulous personalities. The shelter realized it was pointless to explain this so called DC Shiba Inu Rescue to take me into their awesome family!

DC SIR sent volunteers all the way from VA to pick me up! I was real happy to get out of the shelter. When I arrived to Shiba HQ I had to go straight into the bath because my white fur was brown with dirt. My nails were so painfully long that it hurt to walk and the pads of my foot started to twist. The nice woman at Shiba HQ made me feel very comfortable so I didn’t squirm when she trimmed all my nails and cleaned my fur which is dry and brittle but in a month on raw, I should have soft silky fur like the other rescues! I met a cat on the way to my bath and he was super nice. I like cats! After my bath I met a whole bunch of Shibas! I don’t mind them at all! I prefer playing with the humans that saved me. I’ll jump in their lap and roll over for belly rubs. I found some real neat toys at Shiba HQ and didn’t want to share them with the other dogs but my foster home showed me I get rewarded for sharing so I caught on quick! I’ll need to be fully vetted and temperament tested for 2 weeks but DC SIR says everyone will want me!

DC SIR is a non-profit, volunteer-run network of foster homes in the Washington, DC area.

DC SIR does not have a shelter facility. To meet our adoptable dogs, interested adopters can attend one of our monthly adoption events.
