Yoko

Adoption status:  Adopted!

YokoMy name is Yoko, and I am a Mill Dog. I have never known the gentle caress of a loving human companion. I have never felt the softness of a clean bed. I have never heard a soothing word or praise. I have never had a toy. I have never laid back my ears, squinted my eyes, or shook my butt and howled a Shiba welcome in anticipation of a family member’s arrival. I have never felt the comfort of a human when I was terrified or lonely. The only comfort I have ever had was the short love I could give my puppies. I hope the people that bought them gave my puppies a better life than I have had in this concrete and metal jail.

I know their parents think they saved my puppies, but they only prolonged my life of misery while lining the pockets of greed. In my soul, I feel I am meant to run free with grass under my paws, the sun on my face and the wind in my fur. When DC SIR picked me up, I was trying to dig my way out of my crate. I’d never been in a car and I was so scared. But I soon settled down in the car. DC SIR was told I was “bashful” but obviously those Amish Millers don’t know the meaning of the word. I am a fiery proud Shiba! After the feces and urine were washed from my fur, I held my head high turned my tail up! I am curious about my new surroundings and am the first of my mill friends to investigate.

I’m a tiny Shiba at only 13 lbs! But I have a big personality. I’m ok with being picked up when I trust you. I even like to hang out in the kitchen with my foster family. DC SIR thinks that at one point in my life I may have lived inside of a home. It’s too soon to tell, but DC SIR thinks that I can lead a pretty normal life if I get adopted by the right family who is willing to be patient with me and work with my fear issues. I’m not used to the big new world around me so I’ll need someone who knows how to introduce me to new things so that I see how wonderful everything is.
