Adoption status: Adopted! |
Hello everyone, my new name is now Kirie. I’m a 2.5 year old female Shiba Inu that has lived with the same family my entire life. I lived with my littermate and sister, and cats but was surrendered when my sister and I started to get into severe fights with each other. Reputable Breeders know not to adopt out littermates as there is an issue called Littermate Syndrome. Our fights got real bad and our family thought it was best to surrender us to rescue. DC SIR has information on Littermate Syndrome in our Adoption Album on Facebook. I do well with cats and I am more confident than my sister. But I have a scar on my head from a bad fight with my sister. It has healed over and some fur is growing back! I tested well with DC SIR’s neutral dog, Katniss, on a walk and at an empty park last week.
Today, when I came into rescue I wasn’t too scared but I couldn’t meet all the dogs like my sister because they have to keep us separated. I’m going to have foster sisters at my foster home, so they will let you know how I do there when I arrive later tonight.
I trusted the volunteer who assessed me and started to follow her around. I’m nervous but I keep my tail up! Soon I pawed at her to put me in her lap and I sat with her while she told my story. DC SIR says I am a very sweet girl and after a two-week assessment they’ll let you know the details of my personality and what requirements they will have for me. I know that they will pick the best possible home for me. DC SIR also has my AKC papers so if my family wants to participate in AKC sports I’d be able to join those fun things with you! I know the information here isn’t much but DC SIR says I am highly adoptable and they expect me to be ready for adoption soon! Will you please share my story & help me find a forever home? Kirie will be medically and behaviorally assessed for 2 weeks prior to being available for adoption. Email adoption@dcsir.org and tell them that you’d like to adopt Kirie!
