Hi everyone my name is now Ojichan “Oji” which means grandpa in Japanese. I am a senior Shiba mix at 15 years old and I am a big boy. I have lived with the same family my whole life but my human dad recently passed away and no one else in the family was able to take care of me. You see I lived outside in a fenced yard my whole life with access to a dog house and the basement if it was really cold. After my owner passed I had someone come feed me twice a day but I was so lonely so my human uncle who lives all the way in Germany contacted DCSIR. It was just a couple hour drive to my new foster home but it was very scary and I was shaking. My new foster mom used a soft tone and seemed very nice so I hopped outta the car. I had a horrible choke chain collar on and it made me cough so my new foster dad took it off and put a harness on me, it was very weird but felt much more comfortable so we went for a short walk. When I got to my new foster home I went to explore the back yard, I move pretty good for an old man! After awhile I went into her basement which was very different than the one I was used to. It was very warm and cozy in there. I paced and paced and couldn’t figure out what to do, I wouldn’t even eat treats. My new foster mom put my comforter from my old home on the floor with some treats and left me alone to adjust. When she came back I was sleeping and had eaten all my treats. She woke me up in a soft tone and I felt okay so we went outside for a walk. My new foster home has cats and 3 other dogs so I’m slowly getting to know them one by one to see how I do. This place seems pretty nice and I think I’m going to like it here. I have a lot more life in me and am happy DCSIR was able to raise some money for my long term care. DC SIR will be ensuring that I get full medical care prior to being put up for adoption. Please follow my journey and share my story to help me heal and find someone who has love in their heart for an old dog like me!
