Hi everyone, my name is Shippo, named by my foster family after an old anime, Inuyasha. Shippo is a quirky, magical fox who likes to play tricks! I am a 2.5-year-old, red male Shiba Inu. I have only ever lived in Midwest breeding facilities. I came to DC SIR after a long drive with several other Shibas. I was released at a young age, so DC SIR thinks I can do really well adjusting to being a loved companion with all the spoils of living with dignity in a home! I am still scared of people since no one ever touched me with kindness. I was only grabbed and tossed into another cage to be bred. I was very smelly from years of living in my filth. DC SIR volunteer took hours to ensure all the bad smells of my old life were gone forever. The volunteer noticed I was very skinny and could feel my bones jutting out. I also have scars on my face from being attacked by other dogs. I have been in the house with over a dozen other dogs and even a couple of cats, and I just hide in a corner. I am happier and more confident when I am outside with the other dogs. I love to smell all the interesting smells of the outdoors! I haven’t had any accidents in the home since my first day! I don’t know how to walk on a leash yet, but when I get to my new foster home, they will work with me on that. I was lucky to have my vet appointment for a neuter, bloodwork, microchip, and UTD vaccines. I got a clean bill of health and will be available for adoption! I am shy, but I am grateful to be free of my former life and ready to be a forever companion. Could it be you?
