Umeiko is an 8 year old, female, red Shiba Inu. See her Facebook album!

Hi everyone, my name is now Umeko. With ume meaning “apricot, plum” and ko meaning “child” because my foster mom thinks I look like a cute little plum! I was released from a puppy mill, and I am an 8-year-old female Shiba Inu. DC SIR thinks I may have previously been a house dog at one point in my life because I am comfortable being in the house and know to hang out in the kitchen for snacks and that dog beds are for sleeping! That makes my release into DC SIR so special. When I was finally let into the house I couldn’t stop shaking my tail, squinting my eyes, and giving kisses to my foster family! My first night in rescue I curled up in a plush dog bed and snored so loud! When we arrived at DC SIR from a long transport from the Midwest, I pranced around and explored the yard! I knew right away I was safe. I even shook my tail and gave kisses when my foster mom gave me a bath and nail trim. I was so happy because I knew my life in the mill was over! It felt so good to get years of filth washed away! I followed my foster mom everywhere around the house so make sure that this was real and I wasn’t going back to the mill. I love to be pet and I give kisses all day long! DC SIR says I will need dental work, spay, and other wellness care, but after that, I can go to my very own furever home! I hope someone out there sees how grateful I am to live in a home again, and you will never want to leave me. I get along with everyone, and I just want your love, yummy food, and a comfy bed!
