Adoption status: Adopted! Jimmu is an 8.5 year old male black and tan Shiba Inu. |
Hello everyone, my name is Jimmu and you may remember me from when I first came to DC SIR many months ago. My name means the first emperor of Japan. I am a male Shiba Inu that lived many years in a puppy mill. DC SIR was asked to take me because I was too old and no longer needed at the mill. Thankfully, there are rescues to help dogs like me that would otherwise be put to sleep. Though I was wary when DC SIR got me from the mill and drove me to Shiba HQ, I thrived with my foster family. I did well with my bath, nail trim and the other dogs.
Because I am so sweet and gentle, DC SIR found me a nice family with children, something they seldom do with rescues. Though the family said they adored me, they decided I am not a good fit with their family because I was not as affectionate as they had hoped in interacting with their children. They did take good care of me and they don’t have any bad things to say about me. I’m just not the right breed for them.
I am still good with dogs, cats and kids. So now I am back looking for my forever family. You should know that I love boiled chicken and I will happily follow you around for more chicken and give you kisses on your hand to say thank you. DC SIR says that I will get another family of my own, this time forever. Could it be you? Please follow my story to learn more about me!

Previous Stay at DC SIR
Hello everyone, my name is now Jimmu. It is the name of the first emperor of Japan. I am a male Shiba Inu that lived many years in a puppy mill. DC SIR was asked to take me because I was too old and no longer needed at the mill. I am so glad there are rescues that are here to help dogs like me that would otherwise be put to sleep. DC SIR promised I would only know kind people for the rest of my life. When the nice volunteer from DC SIR took me out of my cage at the mill I was wary and scratched at my crate on the drive back to Shiba HQ.
Once I arrived at Shiba HQ I got an hour long bath. I didn’t like it that much but I didn’t complain and I just stood still while the years of dirt were washed from me. After the bath I got boiled chicken and that made me happy so I followed the nice lady everywhere in case she would drop some more of that yummy chicken. After I was dried, I got to go out into the yard. I ran and ran like a puppy. I was so happy to have so much space to run! Once I was comfortable I got to meet the other Shibas. Everyone was really nice but some of the dogs barked in my face. I thought it was rude but I just ignored them. I kept checking in on my friend Mitsu, she is a 3-legged Shiba who came to DC SIR from the mill.
I’ve only been in rescue a few hours but I was such a good boy during my bath and nail trim. I happily follow the volunteer who gave me chicken and give her kisses on her hand thanking her for rescuing me. I hear that one day I will get a family of my own. Could it be you?
