Hello everyone, my new name is now Shiro and it means, ‘white’ in Japanese. I am a 2-year-old, male cream shiba inu. My owners surrendered me to a GA shelter a couple months ago because I have severe allergies. The shelter staff took good care of me and I even got to go into foster care, but my allergies began to get worse. DC SIR saw my photo and knew they had to help me. They have a 100% success rate treating all their allergy cases without any traditional drugs that merely cover up the symptoms. Instead, they treat the underlying cause. That means that I will get to be healthy for life!
When the volunteers picked me up, they saw that I had red inflamed skin, open sores, and very dry and brittle fur. I itched and scratched at my skin but I was so happy to be with people too! I had a very long drive to Shiba HQ, but I made a friend in the car ride. Her name is Sayuri, and she is a blind senior. We even cuddled together! When I got to Shiba HQ, the volunteers gave me a bath, nail trim, and grooming. I really enjoyed this and felt so good afterwards. I got nutritious treats and started to play with my blind senior friend, Sayuri, when we went to our bedroom to sleep.
In the morning I got to meet all the dogs at Shiba HQ! I couldn’t believe how lucky I was to have so many dogs to play with! I couldn’t contain myself and I ran zoomies around everyone! I showed them my best play bow and ran circles around everyone! I assume that everyone loves me but that might not be the case, so my foster said that I may have to learn some manners. I don’t mind being held and I got to start on DC SIR’s allergy program today. It’s all about fixing my gut and building my immune system. Not sure what that means but so far it tastes great. DC SIR won’t let me get adopted until I have a lush thick and shiny fur coat. I’m real excited for a full coat because winter is coming and my bare butt might get frostbite!
Please follow my story and if you think I may be a good fit for your family, make sure to tell DC SIR by emailing adoption@dcsir.org and telling them that you’d like to adopt me.
DC SIR has Shiro’s AKC papers and previous vetting. His DOB is 10/23/2013.
