Adoption status: Adopted! |
Hello everyone, my new name is now Kame and it means long lived in Japanese. I’m a 7-month-old female Shiba Inu that was surrendered to animal control when my family had to suddenly move. I’m a little girl under 20lbs. DC SIR heard about me and sent transport to drive all day to pick me up. They were told I was very friendly and I proved to them that I am by giving the volunteers kisses for hours on our drive to Shiba HQ. When I got to Shiba HQ I met a lot of dogs and I immediately wanted to play with everyone! I can jump very high and the gates in the house can’t keep me contained! I love to meet people and will give everyone I meet kisses. I just get so excited to meet people that I get all wiggly and squeal with excitement! I do the same thing when I meet new dogs and not all of them like it so I guess I am going to have to learn some doggie manners.
Unfortunately, when DC SIR received my paperwork, they found out that I have a Grade III heart murmur. They will need to do more vetting to determine the prognosis and long-term health. Unfortunately, dogs like me that are not from reputable breeders often have health problems because our ‘breeders’ only care about money and not the genetic health of our magnificent breed. Please consider donating to my fund to help me get the medical care I need. I will also need to be spayed when deemed that I can make it through surgery. I arrived at DC SIR with really long nails. So far no one can trim them because I am super squirmy! They said that it will take some time to desensitize me to nail trimming but I am young and eager to learn so that shouldn’t take long at all!
I know the information here isn’t much but DC SIR says I am highly adoptable and they expect me to be ready for adoption soon! Will you please share my story & help me find a forever home? Kame will be medically and behaviorally assessed for 2 weeks prior to being available for adoption. Email adoption@dcsir.org and tell them that you’d like to adopt Kame!
Please help us raise the funds for Kame’s medical care by donating here.
