Azuki

Hi! My name is now Azuki and I’m a 1 yr old sesame male Shiba Inu. My dad loved me so much! He gave me a nice home and took extra special care of me. Why am I in foster care, you ask? You see, I was born with severe anxiety and fearfulness. Dad bought me from a pet store, not knowing that 99% of puppies from pet stores are puppy mill dogs. Our parents live in horrible conditions and fearfulness is hereditary and rampant in the mills. The store said I came from great breeders in the Midwest but we that’s what they tell people so they don’t feel bad about where we are from.

So let me tell you a little about myself. First and most important is that I’m very good looking. I eat very healthy – a yummy species appropriate raw diet which helps with fearful dogs. I was an only dog at my dad’s house and he saw how desperate I was to be around other dogs. My fear would wash away, my tail would come up and felt like a normal dog when I was with friendly dogs.

So my dad searched for the perfect place for me, and that is how he found DC SIR. They have trainers who specialize in fearful dogs & foster homes who have taken classes on working with fearful dogs. My new foster home has 3 other dogs for me to play with as they work with my fear issues. I’m very lovable and have never shown any aggression. I’m good with dogs & will be tested with cats. DC SIR said they will update my progress in foster care regularly but that I must go to a home with other friendly dog(s). If you are considering adopting me please see my album for resources on communicating with & caring for a fearful dog.

Azuki is a male Shiba Inu.
