Hello everyone! My new name is now Chie (pronounced Chia) and it means, ‘blessed with wisdom’ in Japanese. I am a tiny 12-year-old, female red Shiba Inu. I was found as a stray in July and adopted out from the shelter, but I came back to the shelter in October. The shelter found my owner but he couldn’t keep me. The shelter noticed I have mammary tumors, so they needed someone who was willing to take on the expense of my surgeries. For some time DC SIR couldn’t help me because they were caring for another senior with cancerous mammary tumors. However, so many fans came together to ensure that DC SIR could cover my medical care.
Just a day after Thanksgiving I got to join the DC SIR family where I will live in a home as a family member until they clear me of all my medical needs and find me a pawfect forever home. When I got to Shiba HQ, I got to explore the yard on my own. The volunteers think I look really great for my age! I am very active and even playful! They have high hopes for my health. After some time, I got to meet the other fosters and resident Shibas. I greeted everyone nicely and only growled a bit when some dogs sniffed me too long. After I got to explore, the volunteer took me for my bath and nail trim. I was scared of the water and curled up in the volunteer’s lap while she bathed me. I let her trim my long nails without much protest. Once I got clean I felt real good! I did the zoomies and play bowed with the other dogs.
DC SIR noticed that I really love men and tend to go towards them for cuddles. But I am friendly with everyone who I have met so far! Thank you to everyone who donated to my fund so that DC SIR can ensure I get the medical care I need! Please share my story so I can find my forever home.
She will be in rescue longer than the 2-week minimum in order to complete all her medical care and ensure she is healthy for adoption.
