Kisa had her first visit with our new holistic vet, and it was a wonderful. It was a new experience for Kisa as well as for the rescue volunteers.

The Facility

From the outset, the appointment was different from everything we expect of a vet’s office. There were no cold tables. Instead, they bring out a rug for the dog to lay on and feel comfortable, while the staff gets to know the patient.

ComfyKisa SweetKisaAtVetKisa was very comfortable and won over everyone at the vet! People even called her a puppy! She gave kisses to everyone she met and wasn’t at all stressed!

Tests

  • We had previously ruled out mites as a cause of her issues. To be especially sure, we re-tested her for all mites, and she is clear!
  • We also did a food allergy test in case she is allergic to a specific protein. We should get results back within 2 weeks.

Good News

  • The vet confirmed that we are on track in doing everything right for Kisa’s health and immune system.
  • The massive infection from her eyes is gone and the ears are also now free of infection.

Concerns

KisaVet

The main issue is hair loss, the cause of which we are trying to identify.

Another point of concern is the number of immuno-suppressent drugs she was given simultaneously prior to coming into rescue. The vet noted that the detox of these will take a while.

Treatment

KisaSupplements

Based on this vet’s recommendations, we have added a few homeopathic supplements and cooling treatments for her skin. Kisa’s foster mom will be very busy with the supplements and topical reliefs.

We have 30 day supply, and while we are told it may take months to undo the years of immuno-suppresent drugs, we are hopeful Kisa’s skin will begin to heal now that the other painful infections are gone.
