Hi my new name is now Muki. I am a 10 yr female Shiba Inu & I have only known one family. I was well taken care of but my family’s lifestyle changed and they no longer had time for me. In December, I had TPLO surgery on my leg but it’s healed and DC SIR will be monitoring this. My pawrents kept me up to date on health care and they even had my teeth cleaned. This spring, I was also diagnosed with Irritable Bowel Disorder (IBD) and have had bouts of diarrhea and vomiting but it has been managed with prednisone. DC SIR has an incredible health program and they think they can get me healthy and off all drugs with your help. I will need to go to DC SIR’s best veterinarian and be on a special diet as they try to manage or cure my IBD. They say seniors take longer to adopt out but they are committed to giving me the comfort and care I need to live a happy and healthy life at my true forever home.

I came into rescue yesterday. I met one of the nice Shibas from Shiba HQ at a park and didn’t mind her at all. But then the lady and dog took me in the car with them and I got very nervous and shook all over. When I got to my foster home, I slowly met all the fosters and residents at Shiba HQ and I have gotten along well with everyone. But I keep trying to tell the lady that I want to go home. I pawed at the gate she brought me in for hours. I keep running to all the doors in case one takes me back to my family. I’ve been pacing and panting even though everyone is nice, I just want to go home. My foster mom tried to distract me but I keep trying to tell her I don’t want to stay here. She kept comforting me and soon I started to follow her around. I even got up on the couch and fell asleep in her lap.
I got to meet a whole bunch of dogs and a couple cats at the Shiba HQ and everyone seemed to like me right away. That feels good to have nice foster family around. I couldn’t sleep much or eat much, but my foster mom says it’ll get better. I’m hoping that her promises I will be happy again are true. I can’t imagine being happy with anyone but the only family I have ever known. DC SIR will need to raise funds to monitor my condition and check for other potential issues after my 30 day adjustment. Please donate to my fund so that I can get my special food, supplements and medical tests and treatment and be healthy and ready for a family that will love me for the rest of my life!
