Hello, everyone, my name is now Hayao, which is a Japanese name and is pronounced, ‘hah-yah-o.’ I am an 11-year-old male Shiba Inu. I have only ever lived with one family my whole life. But my pawrents recently got divorced and no one could keep me. They contacted DC SIR in hopes of finding me a loving forever home. I am a gentle and loving Shiba Inu. I get along with dogs and cats and kids. I was very nervous when I left my mom and went in a car with a DC SIR volunteer. I was panting and searching for a way back to my family.
I felt a little better when we got to Shiba HQ and I got to explore the yard. I quickly met nice DC SIR foster dogs and alumni. I was a bit nervous at first but I could see that all the dogs at Shiba HQ were happy and soon I followed them and the volunteer around. Once in a while I would cry and search for my family. Soon I was taken in the house to get a shower. My nails were very long and curled over my pads which can be painful so the volunteer made sure my nails were trimmed right away. She said I was the bestest dog she ever met when it came to a nail trim. I was also shampooed and rinsed but I kind of yelled out about that. My shower seemed to take forever so I protested with the appropriate Shiba Scream to let her know I was done with the cleaning! Once we got out of the shower I was very happy and even did a little zoomies around the room. I also met the resident cat and we got along great!
DC SIR has my medical paperwork since I was just a puppy. I was born January 26, 2007 and other than some fatty masses on my body I am a healthy senior with a lot of love to give. DC SIR has special love for seniors as they have given so much of their life and are the hardest hit emotionally when displaced. DC SIR can tell that I am a very sensitive guy that will need a kind and gentle family to comfort me during this difficult transition.
