Hello everyone, my new name is now Hayato and it means, “strong as a falcon boy” in Japanese. I am a 4-year-old male cream Shiba Inu. I have lived with one family since I was just 6 months old. My owners had small children visit and I didn’t do well with them. I nipped one on the leg so DC SIR says I can’t go to a home with kids. But I do love people once I can trust them. My owners also told DC SIR that I never met a dog I didn’t like! When the volunteer picked me up for the long transport, I was a bit shy and timid. Soon, I pressed my face into her hand for comfort. I rode very well in the car to Shiba HQ but at times large trucks or loud noises startled me.
When I arrived at Shiba HQ, I got to explore the yard on my own. After some time, they let one dog at a time out to meet me. I loved meeting dogs. That big dog, Renji, startled me (he’s so big) and I barked but quickly realized he is a big teddy bear. I enjoyed meeting and playing with all the friendly dogs. I even played chase with the foster dogs! It was so fun!!! We played for hours and took turns chasing each other. I also came to trust the volunteer pretty quickly and let her handle me, brush me, and fit me for a new harness. I’ll be going to my foster home tonight where I’ll be living with 2 other dogs so DC SIR will keep you updated on this. My previous owners told DC SIR that I have some mild allergies and the volunteers noticed I have dry fur with some missing patches but they plan to fix me up real quick on their Allergy Program. I’m told that I will have silky thick fur real soon.
I am not yet neutered and will need to get up-to-date on my wellness check but after my minimum 2-week medical and behavioral evaluation, DC SIR thinks I will be a great dog for the right family. Please keep following my album and let DC SIR know if you think I could be a good addition to your family!
