Hello everyone, my name is now Hina, and it means ‘sunlight’ in Japanese. I am a 9-year-old, female Shiba Inu. My owners called DC SIR in December to surrender me because the kids I lived with were being very rough with me and pulling my fur. My family could see how annoyed and stressed I was so they reached out to DC SIR. After trying to make it work, they felt I would do best in a home that has more time for me. So today I left the only home I have ever known and headed to Shiba HQ to get ready for my foster home. I am so glad my parents took the time to find a rescue that would ensure my happiness and find the best possible home for me! I really am a good girl, but I don’t like the kids playing rough with me. My family also said I get into things to get their attention. But if no one shows me how to get attention I’m just going to chew on something until you pay attention to me! Ha! DC SIR says they know how to use redirection and encourage other ways to tell people I need attention. So let me tell you more about me. I am a sensitive girl. I am also a very beautiful Shiba, and I don’t look a day over 4-years-old. When I rode on the way to Shiba HQ with the volunteer, I got a lot of yummy boiled chicken, and I leaned into her for comfort. The volunteer then bathed me and trimmed my long nails. I was a perfect girl during my grooming. I got to meet all the other dogs at Shiba HQ and got along with everyone right away. I even figured out how to use the dog door. I did search for my pawrents and ran to all the doors trying to find a way home. But soon I found a sweet spot by the window, and I took a nap while listening to the rain fall outside. Tomorrow I go to my foster home. I will be the only dog there, and they will post lots of pictures of me and my adventures with DC SIR. I need a minimum of 2-week behavior and medical review before I am available for adoption. Please follow my story and share my album to help me find my pawfect forever home!
