Hello everyone, my name is now Kitty, and I am a one-year-old, male, cat. I was surrendered to a Maryland shelter with my best friend, Neko, who is a male Shiba Inu. I know it may seem strange to see a cat on DC SIR’s page but they rescued me because I am bonded to a Shiba Inu and they couldn’t bear to separate us. I’m so glad they rescued me with my best friend. When the volunteers picked me up at the shelter I rubbed up against them and purred to let them know how grateful I was to be held. I could smell that my friend Neko was in the car too but I didn’t get to see him.

When I arrived at Shiba HQ I was let out in a room with the resident cat, Sir Kitty Kitty! He hissed at me a but I just rolled over to let him know that I am not a threat. I love everyone who will give me attention and I rub and purr to show my affection. I was brought a huge bowl of cat grass to graze on and I got to meet several of the cat-friendly Shiba Inus. I went up to them right away and tried to be friends. I even ate the cat grass with the other dogs. I am litterbox trained and I love to play with toys. Finally, after several hours, my foster mom was able to gain Neko’s trust and carried him up to see me. Oh boy were we happy to see each other! Neko sniffed me all over and started to dance around me. This was the first time my foster mom saw Neko truly happy. I was also excited to see my best friend and I rolled around and we played and played! I’m so grateful to be in a home and have the freedom to roam around. The family already has a lot of scratching posts and cat trees for me to play on. DC SIR thinks I can go to a house with other cats and friendly dogs as long as my best friend, Neko is with me. I am a friendly, active, and healthy male cat who loves to be around people and other animals. I know it will be hard to find a home for a dog and cat but DC SIR says they are committed to caring for us until we find the pawfect forever home.

Please share our story to help find us a forever home together.
