Hello everyone, my name is now Kojiro, I am named after Kojiro Sasaki, a prominent swordsman of Japan. I am a 5-year-old, red, male Shiba Inu. I’m a tall boy and weigh 26 lbs, but I am a bit underweight for my height. I’m one of six breeder release dogs from a Florida home. I’ve lived my whole life in a house with a lot of dogs. When I arrived at Shiba HQ late at night, I peed on the volunteer when she picked me up from my crate because I was so nervous and it was such a long drive. I was happy to explore the yard with my 5 other housemates from Florida. When the volunteer called to us with a cheerful voice, all my family member came to her to be picked up. I came close too but didn’t let her get close to me. After all my family went inside the house for bed, I kept running away from the volunteer. She tried yummy treats, but I never let her get close enough to catch me. We stayed up all night playing chase! I’m really fast so you just can’t catch me! The next day I was thrilled to see my family and play in the sun. I got fitted for a harness which I had to keep on because I like to run! Once the volunteer picked me up and gave me food, I settled into her lap for head scratches. I was in the first group to get neutered, so I spent the day at the vet. I was really nervous and shed a lot of my fur because of the stress. But otherwise, the staff said I was a sweet boy! I was happy to get back to Shiba HQ and rested in a private room with my sister Jun. My foster family came to pick me up that afternoon, and I will be living in a home with 2 other Shibas. I got to sleep in bed with my foster mom and dad, and I slept right between them in bed all night! I like being part of a family. I need to take things slow the next few days because of surgery, but DC SIR will tell you all about me as they get to know me and I come out of my shell. I’m starting to explore my foster home and bond to my foster family. Follow my story to learn more about me!
