Welcome Kokoro to the DC SIR family! Kokoro means the linking of “heart, spirit, mind” in Japanese. She is a 1.5-year-old, female Shiba Inu. She is small at just 19lbs! She was pulled from a Virginia shelter, and was a little skittish at first. Kokoro now she comes up for pets and nuzzles your hand to be petted, and even pushes other dogs out of the way. You still have to approach the petting slowly, but once she is being petted she pushes in for her doggie massage.

She LOVES to run and play with other dogs. Her favorite thing is zoomies in the yard. Sometimes she turns into the ‘fun police.’ Koko can be grumpy and growl at other dogs when she doesn’t want to engage but she thriving in a group environment.

We think that having a home where she doesn’t require daily walks on the street would be best. She is happy and confident in the home but shivers and cowers on trips. No doubt, with time and patience she can enjoy a more active lifestyle.Kokoro has done well around the resident cat in the home but does chase outdoor cats. We prefer a home with a dog to help her with approaching people.
