Hello everyone, my name is now Kuro, and it means, ‘Black’ in Japanese. I am a small 4-year-old, black and tan, female, Shiba Inu. I am bonded to my sister, Pansa and will need to be adopted with her. We lived with a family and other Shiba Inus in NC, but when my family was getting a divorce, they took us to the shelter. Thankfully, the shelter knew we’d do best in a breed specific rescue and contacted DC SIR! We even got to stay at a volunteer’s house instead of the shelter while we waited for transport. We got along great with a house full of dogs and cats! Thanks to a network of wonderful volunteers we were able to get a ride to Shiba HQ in just days.
When I got to Shiba HQ I got to explore the yard with my sister, Pansa and another rescue who came on transport with us, Reo. Soon we got to meet all the Shibas at Shiba HQ and it went wonderfully! Not one growl from anyone. I am more independent than my sister and went off to explore much of the yard on my own. Pansa and I cuddled with each other for comfort and fell asleep to soft classical music. We slept great in the main room with the other dogs and in the morning we were happy to see our foster mom. We went outside for potty and even played with the other resident dogs and did the zoomies with the puppy, Niki! I absolutely loved the yummy boiled chicken we got in the morning when we got our bath and nail trims. My foster mom was very patient with us and once we were clean we happily joined the other rescues in the main room again.
DC SIR thinks we are really two well adjusted and friendly Shiba Inus that will have a ton of love to give a family that will promise to be our forever home. DC SIR will let you know more about us during our medical and behavior assessment period. My sister and I still need to be spayed so please consider making a donation to our fund and watch for our availability!
