Hello everyone! My name is Max and I’m a 12-year-old, male Shiba Inu. Some of you longtime DC SIR followers might remember me, I first came into DC SIR in 2013 when I was just 7-years-old. I thought I really lucked out and found a forever home. It was just me and my parents for a long time, but then I got some human siblings. Unfortunately, in the past couple of months, I nipped at my most recent human sibling which is why I’m being returned to DC SIR. I didn’t break skin but my family didn’t want to do any professional training to help me adjust to the changing environment with small kids around me. DC SIR tries to educate adopters about the importance of hiring a professional reward-based trainer prior to environmental change to ensure a positive transition for everyone involved. Fortunately, DC SIR was able to find a foster home for me and I got to go back to Shiba HQ for a day.

When I arrived, I was super excited and loved smelling everything. After some time I got to see my old friend Katniss, I was so happy to see her I shook my butt to let her know I remembered her! I got to meet a lot of other dogs too. I really like the ladies! I may be 12-years-old, but definitely still a ladies man. I met some males too and most of them were ok but I growled at a couple of the guys that stayed in my face too long. Based on my limited interaction with dogs these past 5 years, DC SIR thinks I would do best as an only. I’m a really sweet guy and I have an amazing smile, so much love to give, and LOVE scratches. I did great with my body handling exercises with the DC SIR volunteer and when my foster family came to pick me up I could tell they were really good people. I leaned into my foster dad for much-desired comfort and affection. Things will be scary for me these next few days but with the love and compassion to foster families that open their home and heart, I know that I can trust a family to love me forever. Please share my story to help me find my forever home!
