Hello everyone, my name is Satou and it means “sugar” in Japanese. I am a tiny, 1 year old, cream, male Shiba Inu mix. I was a stray dog before being picked up and placed into a North Carolina shelter. I was in the shelter for a while, and it was super scary. Luckily DC SIR found out about me and after being neutered, I was on a transport to Shiba HQ! The drive was really scary. I spent the whole time curling up in a corner, trying to hide.

I was in rough shape when I met the volunteers at Shiba HQ. I had fleas, ticks, open wounds and dirt all over me. I let the nice volunteer brush off all the dirt, scabs and debris off of my fur. She said I have one of the sweetest personalities. After the brushing, I had to go take a long shower because of how dirty I was.

I got lots of praise and yummy treats for being so good during the brushing! The shelter in NC said I was an allergy dog, but DC SIR isn’t sure about that. I might just have skin allergies from all the bad stuff that was on me, but that’s something they can give more information about after they get to know me a bit better. After my bath, I got to meet some of the other dogs at Shiba HQ. I was so happy to meet them, I kissed every single one of them! I even kissed some of the seniors DC SIR currently has in foster. DC SIR thinks I have an amazingly sweet personality, and will recover well from surgery. For the time being, I’m currently living the cone life. The nice volunteer who fed me treats said I won’t have to be in the cone for long, which I’m super happy about.

Update:
When Satou came into rescue he had some patches of fur missing, which we monitored for potential allergies. His fur has since grown back in, and he does not have an allergy condition. Satou has free range of his foster home, and hasn’t had a single accident since coming into rescue! Satou loves to cuddle with his foster furblings, including his foster sisfur Moro. He even likes to climb into her crate to sleep with her!
