Hello everyone, my name is now Subaru, and it is a popular boy’s name in Japan! I am a small, 12-year-old, male, Shiba Inu. I am one of 6 Shibas that came to DC SIR from a Florida Breeder release. I’m very fir and active for my age. I’m also adorable and full of cuddles and cute behavior. I like everyone I meet. Dogs, cats, and people! I want to be around people, and if you speak kindly to me I may just follow you around forever! I also enjoy walking through the garden and peeing on plants to let the world know “I’m here!” I went to get neutered but the vet said my liver values weren’t good enough for surgery so I am going back April 18th for bloodwork, dental, and neuter. But let me tell you a bit about myself. I had no idea how to walk downstairs when I for to Shiba HQ. I just threw myself down the stairs at first, and that scared the volunteers, so she worked with me on taking one step at a time. Once I figured that out, I could go up and down the stairs a lot. It’s fun. I also like to jump on the couch and cuddle up in your lap. I’ll nuzzle you until you pet me. You should pet me because I am adorable! I even tuck myself up in the couch to take a nap! DC SIR thinks I’ll fit into a variety of homes. I’m still active and healthy, so I can join you on a lot of life’s adventures. DC SIR will let you know how I do on a leash as I settle into rescue. I ‘m good at following you around, especially if I think you have food. You wouldn’t hold out on me, right? I mean you’d share your treats with me? I could probably stare you down into sharing your treats with me! Anyway, I love food, & I share treats with the other Shibas. I’m a cuddler, and I am active for my age. I hope you will consider an older dog. We are often overlooked & undervalued. We usually have the hardest time transitioning to a new world, but with love and your support, we can really thrive. DC SIR thinks I just need to find the right home & I can live the best years of life ahead of me.
