Hello everyone, my name is now Tori and it means “bird” in Japanese. I am an 11-month-old, black and tan, female Shiba Inu. I’m small at just 19lbs! I’ve had three homes in my short life. I keep finding myself in a new place at no fault of my own. My recent owner realized she didn’t have the time for me and I ended up living in the garage while the home was for sale. I’m young and need socialization and stimulation so that I can grow up to be a good Shiba Inu! When I met the neutral dog, Katniss, at my assessment, I was so happy to be free in the park that I ran and ran and ran circles around everyone. I am really fast and I like to show off my running skills! She wasn’t interested in me but the volunteer cheered me on and I happily ran to her for pets and treats. DC SIR is told that I am good with dogs and cats and I especially love to meet people. There is a lot DC SIR needs to learn about me so be sure to follow my album to learn more. When I arrived at Shiba HQ I met a lot of new dogs. I did great with everyone. The other puppy here, Tsunami, got in my face a lot so I told him to back off but in no time we became besties. We’ve been playing all afternoon.

DC SIR can already tell that I am a high energy pup that will do great with an active family and maybe another dog to keep me company. I will require reward-based puppy training classes to ensure that I continue to learn good manners and can be a pawsome adult Shiba Inu. While everyone thinks that Shiba Inu puppies are cute, we require patience, ongoing training and socialization to remain dog and people friendly. DC SIR is committed to finding adopters who keep their word and follow up in requirements to ensure we remain healthy and friendly companions! Do you think you will be a good fit for me? Keep an eye on my Facebook album to learn more about me! I know DC SIR volunteers put in a lot of work to ensure each and every rescue gets the best possible forever home and I will forever be part of a loving community that wants the best for me!
