Hello everyone, my name is now Tosuto, and it means ‘toast’ in Japanese. I am an 8-year-old, male Shiba Inu. You may have noticed that I have a stunning smile and you would be correct. I am quite handsome. I only ever had one owner that loved me very much, but as her family grew, I was not loved by everyone so she made sure that I would be safe in a rescue that would ensure I would find a home that would appreciate me. I was surrendered with another dog, Kumo, an American Eskimo. We will be in separate foster homes because I am not good with other dogs except for him. I would love to be the only dog where I could get all the love and attention from my human family. I love to meet new people, and I’ll jump in excitement trying to kiss their face if they want to greet me. When I was transferred to DC SIR, I rode very well in the car and enjoyed looking out the window. After we arrived at Shiba HQ, Kumo and I got to explore the yard on our own. I was so happy to run free after spending the day driving to DC SIR. I zoomed around the yard and got to sniff so many smells. I was recently groomed but my nails are still long, and the volunteer didn’t have time to trim my nails before my foster mom picked me up, so I will be going to a groomer for my nail trim. DC SIR will let you know how I do with that. I didn’t get a chance to meet any other dogs but I did get to meet a lot of new people, and I love the attention. I was also very good with body handling, as the volunteers fitted me for a new collar with my very own DC SIR tag. The past year has been tough for me. I spent a lot of time in the garage separated from the family I love. I believe in forever homes, and I think I can still get a forever home. DC SIR does a lot of work to ensure that each and every dog gets the best home based on our needs. Please share my story to help me find my forever home!
