Hello everyone, my name is now Yume, and it means “dream” in Japanese. I am a 5-year-old, female Shiba Inu. I came with 5 other Shibas from my home in Florida. My family bred Shiba Inus but someone passed away, and they needed help placing us in homes. We had a long drive to Shiba HQ, and when we arrived, it was dark. We were all tired and very thirsty. I was very nervous around new people, but my foster mom was soft-spoken and gentle, so I let her pick me up and take me inside to sleep with my shiblings. The next day, the sun was out, and we got to explore the house and yard while meeting the other residents at Shiba HQ. I get along with all dogs and cats. I’m the caretaker of my group, and I groom my fellow shiblings to comfort them. I am most nervous about being picked up by strangers, but once I got to know my foster mom, I came to her for pets. I greeted guests that visited Shiba HQ and sat on their lap for pets. Once I feel comfortable, I really am not that skittish around people, but I do find comfort in being around other Shibas, especially my family. You may have seen videos of me taking care of my sister Jun after her spay. I like to look after them, and it helps me feel good too. I am learning to walk up and down stairs like the rest of my shiblings, and by the 2nd day, I think I got the hang of it. I also learned how to use the dog door for potty breaks. DC SIR believes that I would do best in a home with other dogs since I really do like being around and caring for other dogs around me. I am always cuddling with another dog. While I want to be near my foster mom, I usually put one of my shiblings between us. I do come for pets, and I like to follow my foster mom around the garden. I haven’t been destructive, but I did find a pen to chew on so my mom replaced it with a fun toy to chew instead. I learn quickly, and I respond very well to praise. I am a sensitive girl that will require your patience and kindness to bring me out of my shell. DC SIR will tell you more about me in my album so be sure to follow me!
