Yoshito

Adoption status: Adopted!

YOSHITOHi, my name is now Yoshito. It means good and lucky man. I’m a handsome, red 8 month old male Shiba Inu! My family had to surrender me to a Pennsylvania shelter because the landlord decided my family could no longer have pets. I was really confused and nervous in the shelter. I couldn’t understand why I was alone in a cage. Wasn’t I a good boy? The shelter was very full and luckily the nice people at the shelter are familiar with my breed and reached out to other people who knew DC SIR. Here is where I got real lucky, the person in PA knows DC SIR and just happened to be driving to DC, so I got a VIP ride and didn’t have to wait for a transport to be coordinated!

I’ve arrived in DC SIR care today and went straight into the tub because I was really dirty! It took four rinses to get me clean. I’m a really big boy for my age – I weight 30 pounds! I have really thick fur too. My foster mom says I have a very soft mouth and take treats so gently she barely notices that they are gone from her hand. I already got to meet a few of the dogs in my foster home and they seem real nice! But when one of them yelled at me I ran and hid by my foster mom. DC SIR will be able to tell you more about me in the next two weeks during my health and temperament assessment.
I’ll be available for adoption in 2 weeks. Until then will you watch my album and share my story so I can find my pawfect forever home!?

DC SIR is a non-profit, volunteer-run network of foster homes in the Washington, DC area.

DC SIR does not have a shelter facility. To meet our adoptable dogs, interested adopters can attend one of our monthly adoption events.
