Hi everyone! My new name is Goma and it means, Sesame in Japanese. Thank you DC SIR fans for saving & naming me. I am a 13 yr male sesame Shiba Inu & I have only known one family. I have lived with one owner since I was 8 weeks old. I know my owner said he loved me but I have been in so much pain. DC SIR got a call that my 13 and 8 yr old Shiba siblings & me needed a new home in less than 48 hrs. My dad was evicted and we were living in an empty apartment. I’m blind so I’ve had a hard time finding out where I am at first but my nose will guide me around a room real fast. I had very painful glaucoma for years. Last February I got lost and ended up in the shelter for a few days. That is when I was diagnosed with Glaucoma and finally got some eye medication. But the pain has left my eyes a long time ago when all the nerves died. When you tell me you are coming to pet me I’ll warm up to you.
The first day with DCSIR I got a bath to get rid of my fleas and ticks. I felt so good afterwards. I wasn’t as bad as my sister, Natsumi, but I am happy to be clean. The next day I went to the vet and had my blood drawn and I was checked all over. Like my sister, I have very bad Lyme disease. The Doc thinks I’ll walk even better after I am treated. But the first thing that helped me walk better was getting my nails cut! Wow, can I move now! I can even get up and down stairs at the DCSIR house! I LOVE food and can smell it out where ever you put it in the room. They even gave me a food puzzle and I was super smart figuring it out
The doc tested my IOP (intraocular pressure) and said that my eyes are long gone and I should no longer feel pain. It may not look so pretty to you but my pain from this ended years ago. I’m hoping my blood work comes back good so I can find a forever home in comfort. I will need to be in a home without stairs going to the outdoors. I really can do them all on my own. I love all dogs and will cuddle with them if they let me. Otherwise I won’t be much trouble once DCSIR gets me fixed up. Would you consider giving a gentle old Shiba the love he finally deserves?
