Anika has been in her foster for a few weeks now, so her foster mom sent us an update.

Anika is a super-laid back, easy going Shiba. Although she was a little nervous when she first came to us, she is an absolute cuddlebug! She will literally sit with you for hours, and will nudge your hand if you forget to pet her. She doesn’t mind being brushed, but will get bored of it quickly. Her version of the “shiba 500” mostly consists of playing with toys and chasing her tail.

She didn’t eat too much when we first got her, so I hand-fed her for a few days to build up a bond with her. Now she loves feeding time, and will follow you around in the kitchen. She loves treats, and knows how to sit and give you a paw shake. She likes duck feet and bully bites, but gets bored of them after a while and would rather hangout with you instead.

Her favorite thing in the world is going on walks, but her least favorite part about that is gearing up in her harness. Her personality really comes through on her walks. She is super inquisitive, and is interested in everything…adults, children, squirrels, toads…you name it and she wants to know what they are doing, and if they will stop to pet her. She will also let you know when she needs to go out by pawing at or sitting by the door.

She really loves to sit in the room with the most action. For us, that is our TV room and kitchen, so those are her favorite rooms in the house. She still isn’t completely used to stairs yet, so likes to sleep on the main floor of the house rather than upstairs with us. Then again, that maybe because she LOVES the fluffy shag rug we have downstairs.

Anika is a sweet 7-year old female Shiba Inu and will be placed in a home with no cats or small children. She is up to date on vaccines and will be available to adopt pending medical and temperament assessment. See more of Anika in her rescue album.
